October 13, 2008

Austrian climber Bernhard Kohl (Gerolsteiner), third in the 2008 Tour de France and winner of the Maillot à Pois of Best Climber is the fourth rider found to be positive for CERA (time release EPO) buy French
anti-doping authorities AFLD.

Italians Riccardo Ricco and Leonardo Piepoli, Saunier-Duval teammates and Kohl's Gerolsteiner teammate, German Stefan Schumacher are the other three CERA positives who have been verified positive by blood tests performed by the Olympic Anti-Doping Laboratory in Lausanne, Switerland and the AFLD lab in Châtenay-Malabry, France.

If the "B" sample test confirms the result of the "A" sample, could be slapped with a two-year ban. Russian Denis Menchov would move up to 3rd place and Carlos Sastre (CSC) would capture the Maillot à Pois of Best Climber.
