TECH FEATURES: THE DELICIOUS DE ROSAS OF FLY V AUSTRALIA
March 8, 2010

Agoura Hills, CA seems to be the new hot-spot on this side of the pond for late winter training. Access to the epic climbs of Malibu area and good weather attracted Team Fly V Australia here for their final team camp before their assault on the 2010 race season which will begin at the San Dimas stage race in a few weeks. Fresh off a great debut at Callville Bay in Las Vegas, the Fly V boys, led by Australian Ben Day and American Phil Zajicek, held a week long team camp, hosted an upscale team presentation in Beverly Hills and then finished the week leading out a public ride from one of the best bike shops in Southern California, Velo Pasadena.  For 2010, the Fly V team is made up of 15-riders with the bulk of the roster, ten in all, being from Australia. The focus of the team is to create a distinctly Australian professional cycling team that will eventually compete at the highest levels of the ProTour. With 94 wins in 2009, they seem to be well on their way.

We had a chance to sit down with Ben Day and hear about the team's hope of being chosen for the Tour of California later this month, talk and ride with team owner Christopher White and Technical Director Ed Beamon and hear their plans for San Dimas, Redlands and beyond. We also got a chance to get behind the scenes and see their De Rosa team bikes. Here's what we saw hanging out with Team Fly V Australia this week.

Ben Day's De Rosa King 3 RS with an orange/black matte finish. Sweet.

Race-winning ready. The King 3 RS is complimented by a SRAM Red group, Stella Azura stem and bar, Reynolds wheels and a fi'zi:k Arione saddle.

Speed ready. Reynolds Wheels are a new sponsor of Fly V Australia and will keep the team cheating the wind and rolling fast in 2010.

We saw a selection of fi'zi:k saddles on the Fly V Australia team bikes, including the popular Arione.

Ben Day will head back to Boulder with the team for some final altitude training before heading back to California for San Dimas and Redlands. Their main focus will be another big race in California that takes place in May.

Continental outfits Fly V with an assortment of tires. Ben was running the GP Attacks on his training bike.

Wheels anyone. The Fy V Team truck was literally chock-full of an assortment of Reynold's finest

Veteran Director Ed Beamon talks to the Fly V riders on the road as they prepare to do sprint work along the PCH in Malibu. Ed brings a wealth of experience to the the Fly V squad as the new Technical Director.
