TECH FEATURES: A LOOK AT THE BIKES OF THE TOUR DOWN UNDER PART I

Armstrong has officially made his return to the professional peloton aboard a custom painted Trek Madone. Along with Armstrong's Madone, Road Bike Action decided to take a look at some of the new team bikes at the Tour Down Under.



AG2R LA MONDIALE 
BH again will supply bikes to the AG2R Mondiale team. For 2009 the team bikes have an interesting mix of a Campagnolo drivetrain mated to an FSA carbon crank. FSA also supplies the handlebars, stems and seatposts, while Prologo saddles and Mavic wheels complete the setup.



ASTANA
Trek returns as the bike supplier to the Astana team. The team will again ride Trek Madones with SRAM Red components, with Bontrager wheels and cockpit. Pictured is Lance Armstrong’s Madone, which differs from the rest of the team with a special Livestrong paint scheme.

Frame: Trek Madone Red Series Carbon Pro Fit frameset

Wheels:
Bontrager Aeolus 5.0 wheels with custom LiveStrong/1274 decals. X Lite clinchers for training, XXX lite tubulars for racing.

Handlebars:
Bontrager XXX lite VR handle bar and XXX lite stem 120mm x 7 degrees

BOUYGUES TELECOM
Bouygues Telecom is one team that moves into the 2009 season without any major changes. The 2009 Bouygues Telecom Time bicycles come complete with a full Campagnolo group, including wheels, with Time supplying the handlebars, stems and pedals.



CAISSE D'EPARGNE
The Pinarellos of Caisse d'Epargne will ride into 2009 with no major changes other than paint schemes. The 2009 Caisse d'Epargne Pinarellos feature Campagnolo components, Fulcrum wheels and Pinarello’s own branded handlebars, seatposts and stems.



COFIDIS, LE CREDIT PAR TELEPHONE
With the demise of Credit Agricole, Look went shopping for a new a team and snagged Cofidis away from rival carbon manufacturer Time. The Cofidis team bikes feature Campagnolo components, Fulcrum wheels Fizik saddles and FSA handlebars and stems.



COLUMBIA/HIGHROAD
For 2009 the Columbia/Highroad team has made the switch from Giant to Scott. The team will race on Scott Addicts with full Shimano Dura Ace components, with PRO handlebars and stems. Fi'zi:k Saddles complete the Columbia team bikes.



FRANÇAISE DES JEUX
Francaise Des Jeux will again ride Lapierre in 2009. The team will race on the newly designed X-Lite series with Shimano Dura Ace components, with PRO handlebars seatposts and stems. Fi'zi:k Saddles round out the team bikes. Look for complete test of the X-Lite 400 FDJ Replica in the next issue of Road Bike Action.
