TECH FEATURES: TREK INTRODUCES SPEED CONCEPT
May 26, 2010

On a sunny, Saturday morning of Stage 7 of the Tour of California, Trek rented out the impressive Frank Gehry designed Walt Disney Theater in downtown Los Angeles, hours before the time trial to announce that they were going full speed ahead into the technology-driven world of triathlon. Trek President, John Burke began the day presenting a large group of dealers and media with some compelling facts about the growth of triathlon in the US: "180,000 people did an Ironman event last year. Ironman has grown 30-percent a year over the last 5 years. 1.2 million people participated in triathlon events in the US alone in 2009."

He concluded the introduction with a targeted question and response: "Today, Treks market share is lowest in what category? Tomorrow, what will be Trek's fastest growing category-Speed Concept."

And then the first K-Swiss Speed Concept was unveiled. Below are some detailed images of what you can expect out of the Trek camp in the days to come. The scope (12 models in three categories), sizing (5 sizes per model), design (Kammtail tube shapes) and variety of price points and offerings in the Speed Concept  are remarkable and prove that the company from Wisconsin worked diligently to make sure everyone who wants to enter their first or 30th triathlon, will have a choice of bike in the Speed Concept line.

Don't worry if you aren't into triathon. Trek has you covered if your goals
begin and end on TT courses.

Notice the on board storage for triathletes both in the rear and also on the top tube.
The clean look is accentuated by integrated brakes and zero external cables.

Speed Concept is also now live and ready to go on the Project One
site for riders who want a one-off look.

Like their road bike line, Trek was the first to pioneer
electronics integrated into the frame.
