Luis Leon Sánchez (Caisse d'Epargne) won the Tour de France's second
stage in the Pyrenees, a 176-km ride from Andorra to Saint Girons.
Sanchez was part of a break that was out front for most of the day. As
the break came into Saint Girons it was down to just four riders.
Sánchez first closed a gap to Vladimir Efimkin (AG2R) and was on Sandy
Casar's (Française des Jeux) wheel when he jumped too early. With a
perfect lead out from Casar Sanchez took the win less than two minutes
ahead of the peloton.
