Stage 1: Brest–Plumelec—197.5km
With no prologue TT, Stage 1 of the 2008 Tour opens the hostilities, with the first action on this hilly stage across the Monts d’Arrée, before fighting it out in the tough final kilometers across western Brittany and a finish atop the Côte de Cadoual in Plumelec. The uphill finish may be perfect for Liège-Bastogne-Liège winner Alejandro Valverde.
