THE TEAM RELEASE
German sprinter Marcel Kittel won the sixth stage of the 2012 Tour of Oman on Sunday, finishing ahead of Slovakia's Peter Sagan and American Tyler Farrar. Kittel outsprinted again the world elite in Oman after notching the third stage earlier this week.

In the final Project 1t4i and Team Sky worked together to merge the field with three riders in the escape, Johan Vansummeren, Christian Vandevelde and Laurens ten Dam. The three had a 1’40”min maximum lead over the field but were caught in the last local circuit of seven in the final in Matrah Corniche. The lead-out of Project 1t4i and the earlier work done by Kittel’s team-mates was outstanding. Kittel outsprinted Farrar, Cavendish, Boonen, Greipel and Sagan who represent the highest calibre of sprinters in the world. The victory in Matrah Corniche was the third victory of Kittel this season.
