THE STORY
Vision is best known for their top of the line, integrated aerobars. Their Trimax and Trimax Carbon Pro aerobars have been raced by some of the best time trial riders in the world. Vision has taken the technology developed for the Trimax line and developed the Vision Carbon Pro R-Bend and Carbon Base Bar. Combined the Carbon Pro R-Bend and Carbon Base Bar are designed to give the same professional level performance in a more adjustable setup.
THE TECH
The base bar features a carbon fiber 0-degree flat wing for aerodynamics and increased stiffness. The Carbon Pro R-bend extensions come at a length of 390-millimeters and will need to be cut to the proper length. The six way adjustable aluminum armrests are designed to flex and absorb road shock. Both the Carbon Pro R-Bend and Carbon Base Bar feature full internal cable routing. Unlike the Trimax series, the extensions are separate from the base bar and allow vertical angle adjustment of the extensions. It is also possible to run different stems with the Carbon Base Bar, giving more setup options.
RBA SAYS
The Carbon Pro R-Bend and Carbon Base Bar make up an extremely light setup with a combined weight of 668-grams. The fact that there is no reach adjustment means that one must know their position and then cut the extensions to the proper length. Our RBA tester was fitted to the aerobars by one of Vision’s fit experts before the test. We found this to be helpful and would recommend a fitting to anyone looking to spend money on a set of high-end aerobars. Once properly fitted the Carbon Pro R-Bend bars were extremely comfortable. The armrests flex just enough to take the edge off bumps while the elbow pads are thick and well shaped. Out of the saddle efforts produced no flex from the Carbon Base Bar and added confidence in hard corners. If speed is your goal, the Carbon Pro R-Bend and Carbon Base Bar are a good combination.
