Credit Agricole's big Norwegian Thor Hushovd, winner of 2006 Tour de France prologue, rode Look's 596 TT bike during the Tour De France time trials. Already known for their state-of-the-art track frames used by the powerful French national track team, Look has performed a technology transfer from track to road with the 596 TT bike, which was directly inspired by Look's 596 Beijing pursuit track frame to be used during the upcoming Olympic Games at Beijing.
Before Thor, Look's long time tester Laurent Jalabert rode the new Look 596 12th place in the Nice IronMan using the 596 TRI version. Look design office engineers and the Look sponsoring department developed this 596 frame in cooperation with Aero Concept Engineering, two aerodynamic engineers from the former Renault / Alain Prost team, winners of four Formula 1 world champions
The Look 596 is their first look frame to use carbon nanotubes. The process starts when the pre-preg resin is loaded with carbon nanotubes, which provides increased adhesion between the layers of carbon cloth. Look says Nanotubes increase lug stiffness and extend the life span of the frame.
Thor’s Credit Agricole Look's 596 TT rig is equipped with Shimano Dura Ace 7800, Shimano’s component brand Pro for wheels and bars, Look Keo pedals and a Selle Italia team issue Flite saddle.
