FEATURES: INTERBIKE TECH REPORT. THE FINALE
September 26, 2011

Lucky for all the TT/Tri riders out there, BMC is bringing the aero frame design that Cadel Evans relied on to win the final stage and overall of the Tour de France down in price with two complete bikes and frameset.

The BMC TM202 bikes are spec'd with Shimano Ultegra (top) and 105 (above). The 105 bikes runs with a Vision Tmax crank, Profile handlebars, Continental tires and a Fizik Arione Tri2 saddle.

Every year at Interbike there's always at least one bike that everyone is talking about. This year the bike would have to be Lou Tortola's wholly unique line of  Roundtail bikes. Besides a mountain bike and hybris, Lou was also showing off this beautifully crafted titanium prototype road bike. This show bike was built by the Ti craftsmen at Lynskey and enjoyed meticulous construction. Look for a test in RBA soon.

What better way to celebrate the continued popularity of the Grand Fondo movement than to throw down some tri-color paint on a new mode  called the Gran Fondo. Apparently, that was the answer that Fuji Bikes came up with and they were showing off five different levels of the recreational intended bike ranging in price from $1919 to $4479. This is the 2.0 model with Oval wheels

If you had an aversion to leather, the Brooks booth was not the place to hang out! As beautiful as the saddles are, the line of leather messenger bags are over-the-top gorgeous.

The new aluminum Ritchey Design C260 stem is available in four colors, plus a heavier carbon wrap version that is a tad stiffer than the 103 gram non-carbon version.

I'm not the least bit a 'cross geek and I've already mentioned this bike before, but the Ritchey Swiss Cross remains one of the best looking bikes I've seen all year.

There was good and really good news over at the Time Sport booth. The good? The famous French maker is out of the shoe business. That's good, because the shoes shown last year were on the ghastly side. The really good news is that they remain focused on their core business  - making sweet carbon frames in France. Look for new models and both frames and complete bikes. The Time RX Instinct is available in three colors  and the frame and fork hits the scales at a claimed 1495 grams.

Not only did Belgian helmet maker Lazer intro a new line of eye wear, but for their hi-end Helium helmet they also introduced a specific line of Magneto glasses (@ $100). If you look closely you can see that their are no ear pieces on these glasses - hence the "Magneto" name as in magnet, There is a built-in magnet in the temple piece that "connects" to the magnet located in the small red box on the helmet strap. Seven different models of glasses are available and they can also use standard ear pieces as well. Look for four sizes of helmets which use Lazer's own Rollsys retention system in eight different colorways.

We spotted this Team Edition Dynatek Shark bike over in the Italian pavilion. Not much is known about the company (located just west of Venice), but they do offer a full line of road, TT and mountain bikes.

Bob Allen has been shooting cycling photos (predominantly dirt bikes) for years and this year he was voted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. One of his longtime back-in-the-day clients was Pro-Flex bicycles who sponsored some former roadie by the name of Bob Roll. Here's Bob showing off an outtake with Bobke, an unsuspecting cat and his Pro-Flex race bike with an awfully scary looking front disc brake.

Yeah, as if a Movistar replica Pinarello Dogma with a Campagnolo electronic drivetrain in and of itself, needed additional accoutrements to hang off it to attract attention.

Specialized will be offering five different cyclocross bikes for 2012 plus one frameset, all which use their E5 aluminum tubing. The good looking Crux Comp Disc Apex runs with Avid BB7 mechanical binders, a FACT carbon fork, Sram Apex drivetrain and Specialized 700x33c tires. Best of all - the bike can be had in seven sizes.

Italian builder Sarto Cycles showed-up with a variety of splendid looking road bikes. Included among them was this carbon cyclcross bike that was running with 29" inch wheels and the much talked about hydraulic disc brake set from TRP. To see a video of the newest in Italian handmade bikes - Sarto Cycles at Interbike.

Owing to the great Italian design and performance fit of their Italian lycra kits, we oftentimes forget that Nalini also offers a wide range of cycling shoes. The (claimed) 290 gram Dolphins are a flashy, three-strap shoe available in sizes 38-47.

During those moments at the show when I was feeling more in touch with my feminine side, I couldn't help but be drawn to the Giordana booth who had a growing line of women's specific clothing on display.

Specialized Shiv - fast!

Simple, clean and aero - that would define the Orbea Ordo. Look for seven different versions ranging in price from $3299 - $11,824.

One of the more radical bikes at the show was the Quintana Roo Illicito which uses their own "Shift" Technology to maximize the bike's aero efficiency.
