FEATURES: BEING THERE: EUROBIKE TECH REPORT, DAY FIVE
September 8, 2011

For 2011, Eurobike brought the fashion show out of one of the deep, dark halls and moved it into to open East Atrium of the fairgrounds. Good Move! The hourly show was always crowded with interested spectators in the fast action, intense dance routines feathering professional dancers wearing an assortment of cycling wear.

Sidi's Tony Rossetto showed us the Italian cycling and motorcycle footwear makers newest version of the Ergo3 Carbon, shown here in a new 2012 colorway. For the first time ever, Sidi will offer a shoe with the internal part of the upper decorated with a design motif.

Tony told Road Bike Action "we have developed an all new carbon sole, this time with special ventilation channels for better airflow." Sidi will also have a Speedplay specific version of the Vent Carbon sole for 2012.

Mauro Coccia of DeMarchi shows off a Filotex jersey from their Historic Archive Collection wool jerseys launched last year. "Our company has been in business since 1946 making cycling wear in Italy and 65 years later we are still at it!" DeMarchi makes state of the art technical cycling wear like their highly regarded Contour EVO RX Bib Short & Contour EVO Jersey, but the success of the classic wool caught Coccia by surprise. "Our Historic jerseys have been very, very popular, especially as they are made in Italy and totally authentic."

Oy Bandito! Dedaelement's irrepressible Fulvio Acquati showed Road Bike Action the Italian company's new non-UCI legal TT bar, developed expressly for triathlons and time trials. "We decided to create a really fast integrated bar that was not-UCI legal…because who cares?!"

Dedaelement's Bandito new non-UCI legal TT bar spoofs the Feds.

Another trend at Eurobike 2011 was the proliferation of seatposts that are compatible with Selle Italia's Monolink system. Dedaelement's MLink model joined similar offerings by Ritchey and FSA among others.

Dedaelement's Fulvio Acquati also told us ever popular Zero100 bars and stem with matching seatpost now come in hot red for 2012.

Castelli's innovative San Remo debuted at Milano-San Remo in March 2011; it's a road race skinsuit that uses Castelli’s Body Paint construction, with three back pockets, a full front zip and a consumer version is now available for $350 as well as in Castelli's custom program.

Castelli's long legacy in the pro peloton was featured in this cool display at Eurobike which included Greg LeMond's Maillot Jaune (bottom right).
