FEATURES: TOUR DE FRANCE TECH: EUROPCAR COLNAGOS
July 2, 2011

These are the rather "standard" looking Colnago C59 back-up bikes we found at the Europcar team hotel on Friday. While the team was out on their daily training ride, we had no idea that the bikes that would be rolled out on stage one would be as special looking as they were...

Wow! See what I'm talking about? Leave it to the style house of Colnago to make a flat black bike look so sensational due to the neon lime green accents. Bellisimo! Team riders had choice between the C59 (with lug construction) or the monocoque M10. Other team spec parts included: Campagnolo Super Record drivetrain, Campy wheels, Look pedals, ProLogo saddles, Elite bottle cages, Sigma computers and FSA controls.

The Europcars had a mix of FSA controls either SL-K stem and bars or the swoopy Plasma one piece bar and stem.

Where other Campagnolo sponsored teams run with the "lower line" Record drivetrains, the Europcar squad is happy to use the very top shelf Super Record parts.

Besides the Campy carbon glide plate on the derailleur, the tubular chain catcher was pretty cool.

Here's Thomas Voeckler on his way to sign-in aboard his sweet Colnago C59.

Although the team could surprise everyone by pulling out all new TT bikes for the Sunday team time trial, here are the Colnago Flight TT bikes we found at the team hotel on Friday.

Warning: salivating on your computer can cause electrical damage! That's Sebastian Turgot's M10 Colnago (# 189) next to the lugged C59 of Christophe Kern.
