Bontrager has launched a new line of gloves for the winter season. Rest assured that, with the company based in Madison, Wisconsin, the folks at Bontrager know a thing or two about cold weather riding in the winter season. RBA previews four new models designed to keep your hands protected from the frigid air, snow and stinging rain that mother nature will soon bring...
SPORT WINDSHELL
The Sport Windshell is a minimalist's glove for protection against the wind. The glove has no padding and thus can be worn comfortably over another pair of gloves. There's a micro-fleece wipe on the thumb, and the glove features the same grip pattern found on last season's Race Polartech liner, albeit only on the thumb, three fingers, and only a portion of the palm. Price: $34.99
RL LINER
The RL Liner is designed to be worn under another set of gloves, but can be comfortably used by itself. A blend of nylon and elastine yields a skin-tight offering, and the thumb and three fingers feature the "Polartech" style grips. Like the other gloves in Bontrager's new winter line, there is a reflective decal on the outer portion of the RL Liner's upper. Price: $19.99
RACE WINDSHELL
The Race Windshell is a relatively thin glove designed primarilly for, as the name implies, protection against the wind. It's fleece-line and features an oversized, Velcro, gauntlet-style closure, as well a gel padding covered in synthetic leather and rubber grips on the fingers and thumb. Price: $39.99
RXL THERMAL
More like a ski or snowboard mitt than a cycling glove, the RXL Thermal is designed for the coldest weather. Those courageous enough to brave the harshest of snowfalls and coldest of wind chill will appreciate the RXL Thermal's fleece lining, thick insulation and waterproof shell. A minimal Velcro strap provides comfortable security and the palm features a complex pattern of thin rubber pieces for superior grip. Price: $59.99
