FEATURES: BIKES OF THE TOUR OF CALIFORNIA PART 2

As the peloton the makes his way south, Road Bike Action completes its look at the bikes of the Tour of California.



BISSELL
The Pinarellos of the Bissell team come to the  2010 Tour of California with few changes. The 2010 Bissell Pinarello Dogma 60.1 framesets are equipped with Campagnolo Record components and Easton wheels, Pinarello’s in house accessory brand MOST, provides handlebars, seatposts and stems. Vredestein tires, Speedplay pedals and Selle Italia saddles round out the team bikes.



FLY V AUSTRALIA
The bikes of the Fly V Australia team have an Italian flair. The team rides on De Rosa King 3 RS frames complimented by a SRAM Red group, Stella Azura stem and bar, Reynolds wheels and a fi'zi:k saddles. Like other teams, the riders have their choice of wheels. Most riders were running the deep section SDV66 T. Speedplay pedals and Continental tire round out the team bikes.



CERVÉLO
The Cervélo team comes to California with a mixture of S3 and S3 SL framesets. The team bikes are equipped with SRAM components mated to Rotor cranks and rings. The team continues with Zipp wheels and Vittoria Corsa Evo CX tubular tires. For the majority of the stages the riders where on Zipp 404s before switching to 202s for the stage to Big Bear. 3T provides the team with handlebars and stems, while the Cervelo provides the aero seatpost. fi'zi:k saddles and Speedplay pedals complete the team bikes.



KELLY BENEFITS
For the 2010 season the Kelly Benefits team continues its climb up the domestic circuit and has made the switch from Fisher to Orbea bikes. The team is aboard Orbea Orca frames with SRAM Red components mated to Mavic wheels, tires and pedals. The team has their choice of Mavic wheels, with most riders choosing the Cosmic Carbone Ultimates. FSA sponsors the team with seatposts, stems and handlebars. The team is using K-Force Light Carbon seatposts, mated to OS-99 aluminum stems and Energy alloy handlebars. Selle Italia saddles complete the team bikes.



QUICK STEP
One of the biggest changes of the off-season saw the Quick Step team switch from Specialized to Eddy Merckx bicycles. The team comes to California aboard EMX-5s outfitted with Campagnolo components mated to Deda handlebars, stems and seatposts. The EMX-5 features a full carbon monocoque frame that was designed with Pinarello and features Merckx's classic Century geometry combined with the Toray carbon fiber Pinarello uses in its Paris frames. Along with a new bike sponsor the team also switched to Dutch Fast Forward wheels with Continental tires. Prologo saddles and Look pedals complete the team bikes. Tom Boonen is aboard a custom red, black and yellow painted EMX-5 to symbolize his reign as Belgian national champion.



SPIDERTECH P/B PLANET ENERGY
The Canadian team of SpiderTech p/b Planet Energy comes to the Tour of California aboard Argon 18 Gallium Pro framesets complete with Shimano Dura Ace components. The Dura Ace carbon/alloy clincher wheels are wrapped in Hutchinson Fusion tubeless tires. For the cockpit the team relies on PRO stems, handlebars, seatpost, and saddles. The Argon 18 Gallium Pro frame weighs only 940-grams, and according to the team is 6-percent lighter than its previous version.



UNTIEDHEALTHCARE P/B MAXXIS
Kuota, who sponsored the team in 2009, when it was known as OUCH p/b Maxxis, has again signed on for 2010. The majority of the team will be on Kouta KOMs. The UnitedHealthcare team is sponsored by SRAM, which provides the team with Red components. One change from 2009 is that the team has switched from Mavic wheels to Edge, with team riders having a choice of 25, 45 or 65-millimeter deep rims. The rims are mated to Chris King hubs. The wheels are then wrapped in Maxxis Cormet tires, but like the edge wheels riders can choose to ride other models with in the Maxxis line. Ritchey, who provides the team with alloy WCS stems, handlebars and seatposts, supplies the cockpit on the team bikes. Cateye supplies the team with custom Strada Wireless computers.
